Résumé: | In this essay, connections between medieval medicine and medieval Arabic literary banquets are investigated on the basis of the Arabic commentaries on the Hippocratic Aphorisms on the one hand and passages from Ḥikāyat Abī l-Qāsim on the other. Intersections between these two kinds of texts describing the advantages and disadvantages of wine explain the contemporary wisdom behind comical medical speeches. |
