| Summary: | Un uso extendido de la hagiografía en la península ibérica durante buena parte de la Edad Media fue la de una persona elevada por la devoción popular tras haber sido martirizada por los enemigos acérrimos de los cristianos: los judíos. En efecto, una de las hagiografías de origen aragonés de contenido antisemita y antijudío es la del santo niño Dominguito de Val. Analizando este caso podremos discernir diversos aspectos acerca de la elaboración hagiográfica en el ámbito aragonés durante el siglo XIII además de la funcionalidad de esta elaboración, que excede el marco religioso. Será interesante identificar dicha elaboración como un mecanismo para controlar la influencia de la comunidad judía en el medio social aragonés. Pretendemos realizar un aporte a los estudios sobre la hagiografía aragonesa del siglo XIII, denotando las influencias que la construcción de una vida de santo puede implicar a nivel social. A widespread use of hagiography in the Iberian Peninsula for much of the Middle Ages was that of a person elevated by popular devotion after being tormented by the bitterest enemies of the Christians: the Jews. Indeed, one of the Aragoneses hagiographies with anti-Semitic and anti-Jewish content is the holy child Dominguito del Val. Analyzing this case, we can discern some aspects about the hagiographic development in the Aragonese field during the XIII century in addition to the functionality of this development, which exceeds the religious framework. It will be interesting to identify such development as a mechanism to control the influence of the Jewish community in the Aragonese social environment. We intend to contribute to studies on the Aragonese hagiography of the thirteenth century, denoting the influences that building a holy life may involve social level. |
