Résumé:The paper gives an outline of the conception of the Catholic Church on its mission in education today, with particular reference to the Catholic school in its encounter with pluralism. Three models of Catholic schools in the encounter with children of other faiths are presented. A distinction is made between catechesis, religious education and evangelization. The paper focuses especially on the mission of Catholic schools in urban poverty areas.
