The contents as well as its didactization are conceptualized as “knowledge”. As it is used in the sociology of knowledge, knowledge is understood as a general concept. It includes communication among teachers and pupils, which may be both theoretical and pratical. Building on empirical research, the paper shows that there is a fundamental difference between religious and secular knowledge about eligions and that there are important correspondences between what the teacher's production and the students' reception.
