Summary: | This contribution is dedicated to the history of religious education in the German-speaking public schools in the canton of Bern. It extends the series of articles launched in the first edition of the ZFRK / RDSR to explore the development of this discipline in Switzerland during the 19th and 20th centuries. In particular, this case study defines more precisely a series of periods and turning points that gave new shape to this teaching. Furthermore, it draws attention to the negotiation processes that accompanied these transitions, at the crossroads of didactics, politics, and theology. |
