| Résumé: | The ‘Film Seminar of Comparative Religion' deals with the manifold performance of religion(s). Throughout this seminar, the representation of religion within the filmic medium with its audiovisual characteristics is analyzed with tools from Cultural Studies through an amalgam of theoretical foundation, didactic mediation, and the specifics of film texts. The instrumental variables offered in this seminar provide an efficient toolset for self-regulated learning with a threefold benefit: First, the intradisciplinary contents of Comparative Religion are taught through their analysis within the film-text; Second, as a consequence of multilayered discourses and the participation from neighboring disciplines, an interdisciplinary learning space emerges; Third, semiotic theory introduces a transdisciplinary perspective on socio-cultural phenomena. The transference of the theoretical foundation, the didactic principles, and the filmic medium itself in relation to other educational contexts is discussed critically. |
