Summary: | The article presents the process of Islamization in Malaysia since the 1980s. This development is analysed based on various theories within sociology of religion. The presentation starts with a broad historical overview. Then in provides a description of the Islamic sacralization at the individual and societal levels. At the end, possible internal religious reasons for the development are discussed. Artikkelen presenterer islamiseringsprosessen som har funnet sted i Malaysia siden 1980-tallet. Utviklingen analyseres basert på ulike religionssosiologiske teorier. Presentasjonen starter med en bred historisk oversikt. Deretter gis en beskrivelse av den islamske sakraliseringen på individ- og samfunnsnivå. Til slutt drøftes mulige religionsinterne årsaksforklaringer til utviklingen. |
