Summary: | This article offers an edition and an analysis of an Arabic translation of a fragment of the Gospel of Mark (1:1-14), the only passage preserved from this Gospel in manuscript 4971 of the National Library of Madrid. The translation is compared to other Eastern Christian translations and to the so-called version of the Ibn Balak family of texts in order to present evidence that different texts were used by the translator in addition to his Latin base text. |
