Olorunfewa examines the background and the incidence of the riot in which Shiite Muslims fought with their fellow Muslims on Id-El Maulud, birthday of Prophet Mohammed. He also discusses how Kano has become a flash-point of religious and ethnic conflicts during the past decades and how the authorities are getting worried about the increasing violence of the Shiites.
