Description
Summary:A survey of the activities of the OIC, in particular, of its latest conferences at Taif and in Kuwait. The focus is on the discussions and strategies which aim at transforming Islamic solidarity into pragmatic policies, which can cope with the actual problems and issues of the region. As is optimistically concluded, despite the Gulf war, Iran seems likely to develop common interests with the Arab states, at least on an Islamic level, once a settlement is in sight. Attention is drawn to the recently improved relations between Tehran and Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf states. (DÜI-Asd)
