| Summary: | Based on traditions of consolidated thinking and an approach highlighted by father Todisco within Franciscan thought, knowledge must be traced back to recognition and must result in gratitude. Seeking out textual evidence in the writings of Bonaventure, one discovers the richness of his concept of recognotio and the real signifi cance to give to his speculatio in order to interpret the meaning of the Itinerarium: In this logic, to recognize God; through and in his Vestigia; through and in his Image; through and in his Names; means to recognize that each thing is God's gift and a result of his self-communication. For this reason, the human disposition must be one of receptivity and gratitude: like the prophet Daniel, (great) revelations are only possible if one has (great) desires. |
