At the Museion and in the Library many of the most prominent ancient scientist conducted their research. Some of their results were only achieved again in the early modern period. The Ptolemies supported this research out of practical considerations but also as a tool of propaganda.

Die von ihnen erzielten Fortschritte wurden teilweise erst in der Frühen Neuzeit wieder erreicht. Die ptolemäischen Herrscher förderten die Wissenschaften aus praktischen Erwägungen, aber auch aus Propagandagründen. |
