Summary: | The problems of electronically encoding non-latin writings such as Hebrew were discussed. The main interest consists in a powerful search procedure in which a searchtext can be defined and where the computer automatically finds all instances of strings in a given corpus. The main characteristics of the online concordance CoMOn are introduced. This tool is operating exclusively on the basis of expressions / strings, without any inclusion of meaning. The results will be quasi objective, because they can easily be controlled. But a sophisticated reflection is needed to answer the questions of citation, allusion or relative chronology. Methodically the Online-concordance (working on the basis of strings alone) contrasts the well known printed concordances as well as the Stuttgart Electronic Study Bible. |
