Summary: | Der liturgische Dichter Jose Ben Jose (Palästina, 4. oder 5. The liturgical poet Jose Ben Jose ( Palestine, 4th or 5th century) interprets in one of his works the formula whbw wht from Gen 1,2 by twmlcw hyc (= dryness and deep darkness). The interpretation of Bohu by deep darkness shows some affinity to the rendering of Báau by night in the Phoenician history of Philo of Byblos (1st to 2nd centuries). Due to the testimony of Jose Ben Jose, the old question of a possible connection of Báau in the work of the aforementioned author with Bohu in Gen 1,2 should be left positively open, though the interpretation of Jose Ben Jose is citing from Jer 2,6. |
