Description
Summary:After the Second World War, prominent Baptists created a heroic image of the attitude of the Union of Baptist Churches in the Netherlands towards Nazi Germany. This image was adopted by later historians and never critically examined. A closer examination of the sources shows that a pro-German movement dominated the leadership of the Union, which for a long time led to a high degree of acquiescence and accommodation towards the occupying forces. This article therefore advocates an adjustment of the prevailing image.
