Similar to how ancient philosophers - such as Seneca in his letters - develop introspection when dealing/coping with the expectatio mortis, Paul too, in Phil 1-3, has to respond to his expectation of his pending death. While Phil 1.21-6 - which is to be read in the frame of chapters 1-3 - reflects Paul's situation highly individually and autobiographically, ancient philosophical introspective speaking modes in general tend to remain generic. In its 'autobiographical consolidation' Phil 1.21-6 is also to be seen in a 'contrastive analogy' to Rom 7. | ||

In seinem letzten brieflichen Schreiben, wohl aus römischer Haft, gibt Paulus wertvolle Einsichten in sein "inneres Ich", indem er den reflexiven Sprachmodus der Introspektion wählt. Antiken Philosophen, die den Denk- und Sprachmodus der Introspektion angesichts der Bewältigung ihrer expectatio mortis wählen, ähnlich muss sich auch Paulus in Phil 1-3 mit der Erwartung seines baldigen Todes auseinandersetzen. Während das introspektive Ich in Phil 1,21-6, das sich im Kontext der Kapitelfolge 1-3 umfassend in seiner Bedeutung erschließt, die Situation des Paulus autobiographisch reflektiert, bleiben die introspektiven Denk- und Sprachmodi im antiken philosophischen Diskurs zumeist generisch. In seiner autobiographischen Verdichtung ist Phil 1,21-6 aber auch in einer kontrastiven Analogie zu Röm 7 zu lesen. | ||
