| Summary: | With theology on the one hand, and sociology and psychology on the other, cooperation in arriving at some insight into the role of the priest in Church and society, is still inadequate. The author applies the components of the sociological concept of role to the priest, and indicates in which ways conflict situations can develop. He distinguishes between an internal and an external role-conflict. Now, in the period of transition that began with the Council, there is considerable role-uncer tainty among priests. The author concludes with some sugges tions as to a new role-fulfilment of the priest. |
