Description
Résumé:With the events of the first session of Vatican II in mind the author examines from a sociological point of view the particular socio- cultural phenomenon which this Council itself presents, in view of its composition, structure and functions. He then surveys relations between the Council and the world on the three levels of the Catholic community, the unity of Christians, and of the totality of religions with humanity itself. From whatever angle the Council is thus analysed it is always presented as an outstanding phenomenon whose capital importance can no more escape the religious sociologist than the Christian.
