Description
Summary:The background and basic principles of Islam are delineated. The centrality of the oneness of God and the five pillars of faith are discussed. Psychological benefits resulting from ablution, praying, fasting, alms giving, and pilgrimage to Mecca are noted. Islam provides clear guidance for all of life, and its teachings have reference to care for the family, divorce and polygamy, concern for the welfare of parents and the aged, and concern for learning and work. Proscriptions against suicide, sexual perversions, crime, and racial discrimination are also included. Muslims can enjoy healthy and balanced lives by following these teachings.
