Specifically, I examine the "Clearing" scene in Toni Morrison's 1987 Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction novel Beloved and the "Warrior Falls" scenes in Black Panther, a 2018 film co-written and directed by Ryan Coogler. I draw attention to their common themes and their implications for approaches to religious education that can de-center white normativity.
