| Summary: | This article proposes a reflection on the exploitation of religion by populist parties in Turkey through an historical illumination of the first decades of the Republic, generally associated with the laity and a marked distancing from religion. This approach allows us to analyse the links between the reconfiguration of religion in various fields of political and intellectual activity in the young Turkish republic and the present day experiments by the party in power: these evidence a massive remobilisation of Islam as a significant indicator of culture and identity, modifying the topology of the major values of Turkish politics from a perspective of populism. |
