| Summary: | Using ideas from the sociology of knowledge, this paper (re)examines the biblical texts in First and Second Samuel that refer to Michal, the first wife of King David. In addition to (re)examining the text, this paper raises questions about the socially constructed reality that shapes the reader of this text. Based on this (re)reading of the text, it raises additional questions about how modern western culture has shaped our way of understanding faith. It also suggests other possible ways of thinking about faith, ways that might reflect contemporary emergent and postmodern influences. |
