Description
Summary:Four years after the publication of the encyclical letter Laudato sì, the article aims to raise the urgent challenge of the ecological issue proposed by Pope Francis. The author urges schools, and Catholic schools in particular, to take a concrete, effective stand, inviting them to act systematically and continuously by promoting a good education: that is, educating children and young people but not from outside themselves, as do traditional schools, by telling them what they should do so as such that they reproduce obsolete and asymmetric knowledge of market interests. They should instead promote an education \"from within themselves\" that freely and independently enables them to become protagonists, so they can critically, empathically, creatively, and collaboratively research and create the most appropriate and feasible solutions and put them in practice. As an example, the author presents the \"I CAN!\" [\"IO POSSO!\"] project, an educational proposal that is able to give children and young people a sense of responsibility to change their personal, social, and environmental settings through the Design for Change methodology.
