Description
Summary:Under the reign of Heraclius silver coinage resumed a crucial role in the monetary system of the Eastern Empire: was his hexagrammon miliarēsion really an abrupt departure from Late Roman silver coins? This paper explores the relationship between both denominations and their Late Ancient forebears in order to give new perspectives on the actual roots of Byzantine miliarēsia.
