| Summary: | This article examines the music of two bluegrass gospel composers to assess how the theologies in their songs compare. The theo-symbolic code from John McClure's Four Codes of Preaching provides the reader with a means for discerning the theological elements in a song, sermon, or other artifact, and how the several elements relate to one another. The article concludes that while the composers' theologies have similarities, at a deeper level there are subtle but important differences that reflect their distinct theological backgrounds. |
