| Summary: | Today there is an increasing number of attempts to compare both religion and education in the United States, the Near East and Europe. Regarding the limitations of comparative research, the article introduces transnational history as an innovative method of analysis, including Connected History, Cultural Transfer Studies as well as Entangled History. These approaches seek to understand people, ideas and practices which have crossed national boundaries. Borrowing this format used by historians, the article explores transnational educational spaces in the field of religious as well as theological education. Heute gibt es eine wachsende Zahl an Studien, die das Verhältnis von Religion und Bildung in den Vereinigten Staaten, im Nahen Osten und in Europa miteinander vergleichen. Ausgehend von den Grenzen komparativer Zugänge skizziert der Artikel eine Forschungsperspektive, die innovative Zugänge wie die Beziehungsgeschichte, die Kulturtransferforschung und die Verflechtungsgeschichte umfasst. Diese suchen solche religiösen Akteure, Ideen und Praktiken zu beschreiben, die nationale Grenzen überschreiten. Mit Hilfe dieser von Historikerinnen und Historikern eröffneten Forschungsperspektive beschreibt der Artikel schließlich verschiedene Bildungsräume, die für das religiöse Lernen und die theologische Ausbildung heute relevant sind. |
