| Zusammenfassung: | Commenting Stolz’s 2019 International Society for the Sociology of Religion presidential address, this article further explores four key current debates in the secularization paradigm: (1) the continued search for the ultimate root causes of secularization in the West, (2) the critique from individualization theories towards the concept of secularization, (3) the substantive content of nonreligion, and (4) the risks of limiting ourselves to grand theories. Par l’entremise d’un commentaire de l’allocution 2019 de Stolz, président de la Société internationale de sociologies des religions, cet article examine de près quatre débats courants au sein du paradigme de la sécularisation : (1) la recherche continue des causes ultimes de la sécularisation en Occident, (2) la critique des théories de l’individualisation à l’égard du concept de sécularisation, (3) le contenu substantif de la non-religion, et (4) les risques et les limites des grandes théories. |
