| Summary: | Die Rolle des Politischen für Theologie und Kirche scheint in den momentanen Diskursen ungeklärt. Kirchliches Handeln kann ausgehend von der begründenden biblischen Reich-Gottes-Botschaft nicht nicht-politisch sein, als konziliar-pastorales Handeln hat es unverzichtbar eine soziale und politische Dimension. Für Cornel West ist es relevant, sich gegen die nihilistische Bedrohung von Sinnlosigkeit, Hoffnungslosigkeit und Lieblosigkeit zu stellen, indem man sich in der Nachfolge Jesu ganz bewusst der konkreten Praxis der Menschen, ihrem Leiden und ihren Hoffnungen aussetzt. Die Bedrohungen der Würde, Integrität und Freiheit der Menschen sind immer auch politische Elemente, die die sozialpolitische Dimension des policy matters für alle Menschen offenbaren. Inwiefern und inwieweit Kirche und Theologie bereit sind, sich auf dieses kritische Denken und leidsensible Engagement an der Seite der Hoffnungslosen einzulassen, wird für ihre zukünftige Gestalt mitentscheidend sein. The role of public and political policy regarding theology and the Church seems to be unclear in the ongoing debates. In light of the Biblical message of the Kingdom of God, ecclesiastical and pastoral actions cannot remain apolitical, since all such behavior has not only a personal but also social and political dimensions. Moreover, for Cornel West it is important to refuse to accede to the “nihilistic threat” of “meaninglessness, hopelessness and lovelessness” by intentionally exposing oneself to the concrete suffering and hopes of others. The threat to people’s dignity, integrity, and freedom are always political elements that reveal the social-political dimension of policy matters for all human beings. It is decisive for the future of the Church and theology to determine in what sense and to what extent their representatives are willing to become involved with this critical thinking and this engagement, and become sensitized to the suffering of the hopeless. |
