| Summary: | Deixamos um alerta, a não nos acomodarmos ao muito que já foi dito e refletido (dentro e fora do magistério eclesial), porque sabemos que não é nem foi o suficiente e que há muitíssimo caminho a percorrer na busca de soluções libertadoras que contribuam para o alívio de todos os que- numa fase das suas vidas, ou por erradas opções ou por imaturidade nas escolhas -se encontram, hoje, perante a aviltante incapacidade de harmonizar o amor de Deus e do mais próximo, que lhes suscita o coração, com a fria letrada lei canónica que a Instituição eclesial lhes aponta. The breakdown of family ties and the implications on sacramental marriage have generated a new scenario, that of divorce and second marriage, conflicting with the Canon Low of the Catholic Church. As a result, the Church, though allowing fully involvement to religious practice, restricts the participation of re-married and divorced couples to the celebration of the sacraments, in particular, the reception of the Holy Communion. But this has led many faithful to walk altogether off the Church or to join other Christian denominations or even to embrace other faiths. With this article, though recognizing the Church sensitivity to the difficulties and sufferings of those faithful in irregular marriage, we only wish to appeal the Church to become more aware of how much her position appears excessively intransigent and sometime stained with pharisaic institutional legalism, strongly denounced by outstanding theologians, experienced pastoral scholars and psychologists of proved fidelity to the Church. |
