| Summary: | No presente artigo procura-se traçar uma sinopse da evolução da atitude persecutória dos Tokugawa face à religião cristã, confrontando-a com a postura do regime frente ao budismo e enquadrando-a no âmbito das directivas políticas Tokugawa, e perspectivar o impacto dessa nova atitude dos Tokugawa, na Europa e na Nova Espanha, através da análise da divulgação da representação pictórica do tema dos mártires cristãos. This paper seeks to outline an overview of the evolution of the Tokugawa persecution of Christian religion, contrasting it with the attitude of the regime towards the Buddhism and analysing it in the context of the Tokugawa political directives. This paper also aims at assessing the impact of the Tokugawa’s new attitude in Europe and New Spain through the analysis of the dissemination of pictorial representation of the theme of Christian martyrs. |
