| Summary: | A imagem da mulher como «presa fácil» e como «sexo frágil» difundida pela propaganda anticlerical, e particularmente pela propaganda específica contra a influência da Companhia de Jesus, é um dos temas fortes do processo de construção de uma ideologia antijesuítica que marcou as sucessivas leituras decadentistas e alarmistas da história da cultura portuguesa e europeia. O nosso breve estudo pretende analisar as incidências anticlericais e, particularmente, antijesuíticas do tema da mulher e da questão Woman’s image as an «easy target» and as a «fragile sex» spread out by the anticlerical propaganda, and particularly by the specific propaganda against the influence of the Society of Jesus, is one of the strong subjects of the process of construction of an ideology against Jesuits that marked the successive decadent and alarming readings of the history of the portuguese and european culture. Our short study intends to analyze the anticlerical incidences and, particularly, the incidences against Jesuits towards woman and the question of the manipulation of the consciences that is associated, in the context of the controversies around the demand of power and of the exercise of domain by the Jesuitism. We will explore the psychological symbolics of the ideia of the woman as alter ego of the priest and the extension of the clerical influence in spaces normally inaccessible to its presence. |
