| Summary: | In this article, we examine the authenticity of religious experience and practice. The study of religious groups in Quebec has revealed a shift away from the authority of God as supreme figure and holder of absolute truth with respect to everyday life and personal experiences. This shift includes a re-enchantment of the world, with the return to the romantic ideas of tradition, being close to the earth and nature, and to emotion in the present, rather than a morality imposed by orthodoxies either religious or political. Dans cet article, nous proposons d’interroger le sens de l’authenticité en lien avec l’expérience et la pratique religieuses. L’étude de quelques groupes religieux québécois nous a fait découvrir l’existence d’un déplacement d’autorité de la figure suprême, détentrice de vérité absolue, à savoir Dieu, vers le domaine des expériences quotidiennes et personnelles les plus intimes. Le nouveau chronotope de l’authenticité est ainsi indissociable d’un processus de réenchantement du monde, du retour à l’idée de tradition dans son articulation romantique, proche de la terre, de la nature, de la culture de l’instinct, de l’émotion hic et nunc opposés à la rectitude d’une morale imposée par des orthodoxies qu’elles soient religieuses ou politiques. |
