Starting from the analysis of Goethe’s letters, we will attempt to show an authentically personal re-elaboration of three key terms from the Islamic vocabulary: Islam, Prophet and Hegira. By comparing the letters with his diaries, conversations, and autobiography, we will propose a coherent reading of Goethe’s personal relationship with Islam. | ||
