| Summary: | Constantemente, as mulheres cristãs se deparam com discursos e exigências que não conseguem ou aceitam articular na sua prática cotidiana. Observamos assim, uma tensão entre a ortodoxia cristã (no caso, protestante) e o imaginário e prática das mulheres cristãs a respeito da corporeidade. As formas de assumir o corpo por parte das mulheres reflete incongruências em relação à matriz doutrinaria do sistema religioso ao qual aderem, o que é decorrente, por um lado, da influência cultural e midiática na promoção de novas representações do corpo feminino, e por outro lado a cada vez maior relativização do poder religioso numa sociedade secularizada. Assim, a artigo visa mostrar esta tensão que tem lugar nos corpos, elencando como categoria de análise o cotidiano das mulheres protestantes de Cali no que se refere à corporeidade e à sexualidade. The intention of this paper is to approach the participa-tion of some religious agencies in the production of a public sphere addressing specifically, some arguments of the leader of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) on abortion. The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) appears as an important agency producing practices related to the Theology of Prosperity. Such practices are always represented by events in which the faithful witness about the efficacy of certain rites in the economic sphere of their lives. The focus of this text is an analysis of a disciplinary program based on the reproductive rights, allowing us to think that the prosperity practices carried out in IURD are not restricted to the financial aspect represented by money – that is, money is not the only ritual mediator of prosperity – and that the notions of prospe-rity and abundant life can be practiced and therefore reformulated in every aspect of life, being family the main one. According to this logic, abortion, so commonly associated with an underground and illegal nature emerges as a recommendation directly linked to family discipline towards prosperity. |
