Por meio do uso da mídia, os fundamentalistas procuraram - e procuram até hoje - constituir uma contracultura não-utópica, visando à defesa dos "valores familiares" e à manutenção dos papéis de gênero em uma sociedade em transformação. | ||

Al-though the use of the media by Protestants isa recent subject in the secular press, thispractice comes from the initiative of NorthAmerican preachers of the 1920s. Our goal isto show the early years of the North Ameri-can evangelical media, the tensions and dis-putes over the access to radio and television,and how this context favored the rise of fun-damentalist groups in the mass communicationin the American culture. Through the media,the fundamentalists have sought and still seekto constitute a non-utopist counterculture,aiming at the defense of the “family values”and the maintenance of the traditional genderroles in a transforming society. | ||
