A segunda (a questão de gênero) é justamente uma exigência de paridade social e de relação humana, em que antes tal questão não era prevista.Por sua própria natureza profética, a relação de gênero rompe tabus e suscita mudanças sociais, impossíveis de serem alcançadas no passado idealizado pelos fundamentalistas. Fundamentalismo e questão de gênero se excluem, seja quando se trata de fundamentalismo político nacionalista ou de fundamentalismo econômico, ou o mais espalhado de todos: o fundamentalismo religioso. Entretanto, não basta dizer isso. O assunto é mais complexo. Embora não me sinta especialista nem em um tema nem no outro, proponho-me conversar com vocês sobre as implicações de uma questão sobre outra e, se for possível, delinear algumas perspectivas. Tomarei aqui como questão o fundamentalismo religioso e suas implicações para as questões de gênero. Por questão de ética, não aceito escrever sobre situações internas de outras religiões que não sigo. Mesmo se, por cuidado ecumênico, eu aludir a situações que existem em várias religiões, devo, por exigência ética, me restringir ao fundamentalismo religioso nas igrejas cristãs. Escrevo estas linhas como provocação ao diálogo e, portanto, deixarei este texto, propositadamente, incompleto e aberto. At first sight, subjects such as religious fun-damentalism and gender issue mutually ex-clude and ignore themselves. The former wasborn and developed as a reaction to any pre-tension of modernity. It is an attitude of pre-vention and closing to any change. The latter(the gender issue) is precisely a demand ofsocial parity and of human relation, whensuch question was not yet foreseen.Due to its prophetic nature, the gender rela-tion tears down taboos and rouses socialchanges, something impossible to be accom-plished in the past idealized by the funda-mentalists. Fundamentalism and gender issuemutually exclude themselves, whether it isthe nationalist political fundamentalism, theeconomical fundamentalism, or the most di-vulged one: the religious fundamentalism.However, it is not enough to say so. Thesubject is a more complex one. Although Iam not an expert on either issues, I proposemyself to talk to you about the implicationsof one issue over the other, and, if possible,to draw some perspectives. Here, the issuewill be the religious fundamentalism and itsimplications for the gender issues. Out ofethics, I do not accept writing about internalsituations of religions other than mine. Even if, out of ecumenical care, I allude to situa-tions that exist in several religions, I must, outof an ethical demand, restrict myself to reli-gious fundamentalism in the Christianchurches. I write these lines as a provocationto dialog, and, thus I will purposely leave thistext incomplete and open. |
