Description
Summary:We present a rationale for the inclusion of a Family Mentorship experience as a vehicle for enabling seminary students to appreciate the challenges to faith inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. We describe the development of one such mentorship program as a collaborative between a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and a local seminary. We present effectiveness data for the Mentorship experience, and provide recommendations for other seminaries and university centers on disability that would seek to establish similar family mentorship programs.
