Description
Summary:In the model of studies of communication as culture, this article points out the Basic Ecclesial Communities (CEBs), linked to the Catholic Church, in some actions that constitute them historically: social articulation, circulation of themes of interest and development of cultural practices. CEBs, which emerged in the context of the struggle against the dictatorship in Brazil in the 1960s, are nowadays characterized by performing cultural practices as producers of meaning and symbolic value. The research clipping points to cultural practices observed in a meeting about “Youth and Well Living”, in Cuiabá, capital of the state of Mato Grosso, in the Midwest region of Brazil. In a qualitative approach, the theoretical frameworks of the article aggregate the following conceptions: “culture as an interpretive science”, “science of the common”, “communication as dialogue” and “Well Living” (update of the “Kingdom of God on Earth”). This is a case study, made possible by bibliographic research and participant observation.
