| Summary: | When anti-Semitism is seen as a global phenomenon, this is often associated with a tendency to universalize the Shoah in particular. Generalizable standards are sought to compare memories and ideologies of contempt for humanity. In Germany, such approaches often serve to level out the specificity of German guilt and thus to have a publicly exculpatory effect. Using the debate about Achille Mbembe as an example, the problems of a memory striving towards universalization are discussed. As a contrast, the work of the Anne Frank Educational Center is presented, in which the exhibition "Anne Frank. More Tomorrow" intends to focus attention on the relationship of the personal to the historically concrete. Wenn Antisemitismus als globales Phänomen betrachtet wird, ist damit häufig auch eine Tendenz zur Universalisierung insbesondere der Shoah verbunden. Es wird nach verallgemeinerbaren Maßstäben gesucht, um Erinnerungen und Ideologien der Menschenverachtung zu vergleichen. In Deutschland dienen solche Ansätze oftmals zu einer Nivellierung der Besonderheit der deutschen Schuld und wirken damit öffentlich entlastend. Am Beispiel der Debatte um Achille Mbembe diskutiert die Probleme eines zur Universalisierung strebenden Erinnerns. Als Kontrast wird die Arbeit der Bildungsstätte Anne Frank vorgestellt, in der mit der Ausstellung "Anne Frank. Morgen mehr die Aufmerksamkeit auf die persönliche Beziehung zum historisch Konkreten gerichtet werden soll. |
