Description
Summary:The Israeli TV series BeTipul (“In therapy”) has been incredibly successful. As a consequence, the show has been adapted in a large number of countries, for example in Italy by Sergio Castellitto, in 2013. How can this success be explained? By telling the story of how a therapist confronts different patients while having to deal with their own personal concerns. This seemingly austere series addresses the universal motif of individual and collective trauma. By showing contemporaneously the surprising power and powerlessness of speech, it draws on the biblical tradition, which places great importance on the spoken word. No one, not even God, can force another person to choose the right path; instead, all that can be done by anyone is to allow the individual to make the choice that will lead to life by themselves.
