Description
Summary:In my paper, I discuss Rosa’s claim that resonance may be the solution to the problem of acceleration. After summing up his influential interpretation of mo-dernity as the age of forced dynamism, I briefly present the «normative monism» on which Rosa bases his critical sociology of world-relations. His critique of present-day alienation revolves around the key concept of resonance. Resonance is the anti-dualist notion that should allow him to bridge the notorious modern gap between subject and world. Eventually, I compare resonance with happiness in order to show that what Rosa is aiming at in his last book is to offer a new solution to an age-old question, which I picture as the all too human desire to expand the punctual present and make it a place where people can feel at home in.
