Description
Summary:The terms «desire» and «imagination» occur with great frequency in Teresa of Avila’s writings, and the way they contribute in defi ning the spiritual experience of the reformer of Carmel is worth carefully examining. From Teresa’s point of view, these terms are essential in articulating the possibility of mystic discourse, namely of relocating the narrative of her inner experience and the intimate manifestations of a God almost disappeared from the scene of the world. In her imaginative tumult, Teresa kept listening to her own desire and accepted the conflicting passions, which inhabited her until they conveyed a new truth on herself and her embodied subjectivity.
