Summary: | While the historic Paul considered the church as a local entity with the typical definition of «body of Christ ̈, subsequently a twofold variation came about. In the letters to the Colossians and Ephesians (the 80s), even if it looses the christological definition hinted at, the church is considered a universal reality, utterly «spouse of Christ ̈.
