This paper examines the topicality of questions, which have accompanied humankind on earth from the very beginning and remain up-to-date in the light of the dramatic events of our times. How to reconcile the existence of evil with that of God? The problem of evil is central to all religions. The «silence of God» is widely debated. The search for an answer is itself already an answer to the human need to give sense to existence: it is impossible to reduce God to an idol, object of a rationality that demonstrates its own limits. «God’s love» – wrote Hans Küng – «does not protect us from evil; it protects us in the evil». |
