Zusammenfassung:Apologetic discourses will have to be contextual if they are to be meaningful. The communication of the historical Jesus in a Hindu context stands to benefit from bearing in mind the Hindu sense of history. With this in view, the article delineates a Hindu sense of time/history and outlines how it has been confronted by the modern understanding of time. Highlighting the tensions between a cyclic and a linear sense of time and between history and myth, this article brings out the challenges that the Hindu worldview presents for Christian apologetics.
