| Summary: | This article analyzes cultural data provided by anthropologists, missionaries, and the author's personal experience in order to identify major themes in the worldview of Turks. Cultural data about Turks provided by anthropologists and missionaries were collected and analyzed to identify key worldview elements, resulting in the identification of the following main themes: male and female, purity and pollution, honour and shame, order and disorder, inside and outside, covered and exposed, and Allah and the spirit world. Among these themes, the theme of purity and pollution was found to be fundamental to most of the other themes. The article closes with a brief exploration of this study's implications for Christian encounter with Turks. |
