Summary: | Luce Irigaray’s interpretation of Merleau-Ponty highlights an element characteristic of his understanding of sexual differences: the individuation – in the realm of perceptive sinesthetics – of the «tactile» as a relational modality not subordinate to the visual regarding the dichotomy active/passive, which shapes the polarity masculine/feminine. The revelation of heuristic insufficiency underlying Merleau-Ponty’s treatment of the «chiasm», however, does not seem to include, alongside the necessary data of reversibility, tension and crisis. |
