Summary:From the very beginning, the ethical dimension has been fundamental for Islam. Well beyond the confines of the norms which regulate the rites and the structure of cult, this religions privileges «orthopraxy» above «orthodoxy». Among the persisting values of ancient Arabia – in a modern interpretation, needless to say – we have the prevalence of the group over the individual, from which both the distinct communitarian and solidaristic tendency of Muslim morals and the possible deviations of a conformist nature derive.
