Summary: | This article discusses African concept on the Incarnation of the ‘Son’ of God who becomes ‘Son’ of Mary and is thus ‘received’ by her, the Theotokos. Instead of simply proposing the mystery of the birth of the word-son in ‘time’ as the ‘hermeneutic principle’ of black-African existence, the study highlights the problems that emerge in the afro-Christian culture and mind on the subject of Incarnation. Possible solutions to these problems are looked for both in the African doctrine of God and in the African anthropology of the family, of the human being created as a ‘puff of air’, by time, by knowledge, by art, etc., all in the perspective of a ‘trans’cultural Christianity. |
