Description
Summary:The article wants to reconstruct a major itinerary of Italian liberal Catholicism: from Rosmini to Fogazzaro and Gallarati Scotti. The analysis is lead along two themes: the relationship between the Church and the State and the reformation of the Church. The author upholds the theory that this course represents not only the decline of liberal Catholicism, as it could seem at a first sight, but also a productive metamorphosis capable of influencing the subsequent historical periods, particularly on the religious front.
